Kevin Russ, a photographer from Portland, captures the feeling of the american landscape. Being far from cliche his work reinvents the classical motives of early twentieth century painters and explores the subtle dialog between the constant and still environment and a moving trains, cars or animals.
Candy Chang - I Wish This Was (2010)
“I Wish This Was was inspired by vacant storefronts. There are many where Candy lives in New Orleans. There are also many people who need and want things. Who knows a place better than the people who live and work there? We know what businesses and services we need, and we know what would make our neighborhoods more ours. What if we could easily voice what we want, where we want it?
As an experiment, Candy created fill-in-the-blank stickers that say ‘I wish this was ____.’ She placed boxes of free stickers in businesses around the city and posted grids of blank stickers and a permanent marker on vacant storefronts, so anyone walking by could fill one out. Responses ranged from the functional to the poetic, reflecting the hopes, dreams, and colorful imaginations of different neighborhoods.”

as an exercise and as a gift for my dad, I drew an updated version of this old artwork of some old OC story I don’t remember (there was this guy in his shop and a blond guy with an old car and…???) back then I also had a really bad skinny leg habit and all my OCs wore tshirts with different words on them which I guess I thought was cool or something :/
I wanted to see what I could push further and make better this time, and what I’m doing worse or not improving, so anyone feel free to comment critically on this :))
